Bath's magazines have been celebrating Independent Retailer Month, and we've been making headlines! In June’s edition of The Bath Magazine, we were delighted to be included in an article celebrating Bath’s coolest little shops, in every industry from homewares and interior design to fashion, books and technology – which just goes to show how lucky we are in Bath to have such a fascinating, varied selection of local businesses. In Bath Life, meanwhile, regular columnist Philippa May gave us a shout-out in her celebration of independent Bath, describing our street, Margaret’s Buildings, as ‘one of Bath’s loveliest spots’ – a sentiment that we heartily agree with.
Margaret’s Buildings has been one of Bath’s independent business hotspots for a while now, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of this little community. If you’re looking for some new independent shops to explore and support, or just for a place to spend a morning pottering, away from the crowds of the city centre, why not give us a visit? Start with a fortifying breakfast at the Green Bird Café, featuring all sorts of local foodie producers from Bertinet Bakery to New MacDonald’s Farm. You can pick up a selection of delicious local foodie treats to take home, as well. When you’re ready to shop, Margaret’s Buildings has everything from gorgeous fashion (vintage pieces at Heavens, chic modern clothing at Uber, sparkly finishing touches at Alexandra May) to fascinating history (Bath Old Books is a Bathonian institution, and history buffs simply must visit Jonathan Potter’s Antique Maps to see their local treasures). For lunch, sit in the sunshine outside Rustico Bistro Italiano and treat yourself to something delicious from this lovely little family-run restaurant – and, of course, don’t forget to visit us at Homefront Interiors!
We’ve got a stock clearance sale running at the moment, to make way for lots of lovely new things, so we have some fabulous bargains on everything from kitchenwares to textiles. And if you can’t make it in to see us in person, how about signing up for our monthly newsletter? Get all the latest news and offers, first dibs on our ever popular courses, and, for this month only, when you sign up you’ll also be entered into a competition to win a beautiful mango wood and marble paddle board.
Bath’s brilliant independent businesses are a huge part of what makes this city so special and unique, but none of us can keep going without you, our customers – so in celebration of Independent Retailer Month, why not make an effort to visit a few extra indie shops? It’s an excuse to go shopping and you get to support local folks along the way – it’s the ultimate win/win.
